This is an extremely fun little grinder. Im not too far in but i like the format and the oldschool graphics are sweet as honey. My only complaint is that you can't choose individual targets for offense (attacks, spells, etc...), you can only choose groups of enemies. It seems to play most like DW 2 with one fighter, one fighter/mage, and one full on spell caster. The target system is such a minor issue its not even worth a star. Love love love it and wish there were more games just like it for android.
This game is a great RPG with a great soundtrack too! Actually this was one of the very first games I downloaded for my first Android phone back in 2012, and it's one of the very few games I had at that time that STILL work today on newer Android versions! Thanks so much for updating it!
Nostalgic gameplay - definitely a DW clone (which isn't a bad thing). 3 stars because it's a little too heavy on grinding, and the translation is horrendous. Most of the NPC text doesn't make any sense, it's like they ran everything through a crappy translation program. Oh well it's free... and still fun in short play sessions.
Free with no ads is worth 3 stars all on its own. Two more stars for a rpg game done in the old style. Update: I have been playing this for a few days now, and I am totally delighted with this game. A truly classic old school rpg that reminds me of when FF 1 first came out. Well done!
This is an actual game. Not freemium garbage. Let me explain: a game rewards players for ingenuity, creativity or quick reflexes. Freemium garbage rewards players for logging in, clicking a button or spending excessive amounts of real money for gems. This particular game has smooth classic rpg gameplay for a tiny little download. I highly recommend it.
Love this game and for anyone having a problem with Alices spells, she is learning them and they are there... there is a multipage menu for defensive and offensive spells. If you look at her spell menu there are left/right arrows showing that there is more to see. Great game
I've downloaded a few of the higher memory usage rpgs and though it doesn't have as many bells and whistles, it ends up being more fun. It is also much easier to just pick up and play. Only probblem sometimes it freezes for a few seconds. Will definitly download 2!!!
Very good DQ clone. However, on both my HTC G3 and my Google Nexus 10, PC and NPC sprites, as well as monsters in battle, show up with a solid colored border. Can you fix the transparency effects? Thanks!
It's free, doesn't ask for permissions, runs beautifully, and it doesn't even have ads! On top of all that goodness it's a lovely old fashioned rpg game that fills me with nostalgia. I love this! I especially like that you can save with the press of one button. Thanks for making this available!
Grinding is part of what makes a good rpg, so no complaints from me. I used to play 7th saga on snes and that was a crazy slog of a grind so this is nice.
Good game to past the time. Not to hard to level. Fighting is okay, and need a little strategy still needed to win some. Good first time game for kids.
It's a great adventure, RPG game for on the go. I've become a real fan of this game because it's very similar to the style of the old game called "Shinning Force" without the placement, and chess like feel to it. Really enjoy it, and worth a try! Thank you!! ^-^
Love it! Dragon Warrior was my favorite series growing up, and this is a great version of that type of game
Dont listen to negative people this is a hidden gem. Hsppy you made this game its so hard to find these rpg games. My thanks to the develeper
Cool game. Allot like dragon quest/warrior. Real story line. Easy to figure out. I have spent well over 10 hours so far playing. Actually enjoyable. Never crashes. Better then bowling or other dumb arcade games u spend 5 minutes and get bored on.
Easy to learn; much like dragon warrior/ff1. 3 heroes, nice difficulty. -1 star for items going into character inventory instead of bag and lack of direction once you get the ship. 'Go explore the world'
Btw what happens if u read the king's private diary thing? I don't remember, and I want to read it but don't remember if it screws me over for nothing
As someone who grew up playing Dragon Warrior on NES I love this game. It's so much fun to play if you like 8 bit turn based RPGs. If you don't like them something's wrong with you.
Old school rpg. Really no story and very bare bones. But I still found myself grinding away for hours just to be strong enough to continue exploring. Nothing innovative but it does what it does well.
One star for zero unnecessary permissions; one star for small file size; one star for lack of flashing banner ads; and one star for the game being annoying enough that I really want to beat it, but not so I annoying that I quit it. In fact, take an extra star for your game's addictiveness, and another for it being free.
The opponents are stronger than our heroes. You gotta be kidding right? The heroes that we have must be stronger than our enemies i suppose. They need to add more npc that can help us, not those npc that talks nonsense, though its giggly but it aint helpful. The king in the first conversation only introduces about a demon we have to fight, but never mentioned that those fckng snails, bats and wizards are stronger than 'd demon we anticipate on our adventure in that castle. Dont make o.p enemies
It's OK at best, naztolgia isn't going to cut it for me, it's too small and unrefined for me to fully do anything with or put any attention to, I've put maybe 5 mins at predicting the story, actually no, I took 0.000000001 second at the story, it just too common, if I wanted to play Dragon Quest I would play Dragon Quest. Sorry this isn't even close to the platform where Dragon Quest stands tall and proud above all the want to be RPGs.
This game is pretty good and definitely worth a play, a few weak points though, the players are always animated to walk, this trips me out a little, not a huge problem, but the mobs are way OP too early into the game. Also, there should be a map, taking ages to find the other towns and the distances are too hard to measure without visual guidance. Overall, it works well enough as an Adventure/Quest type RPG, and is as good as any f2p game ive come across, except the amazing Inotia3.
Straight-up "Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest" clone. Three pre-made characters in starting party. Good throwback game for fans of early, simple RPG'S. Very simple gameplay and dialogue (Don't expect Ultima)
Enjoyed playing this typical retro JRPG, this is my kind of retro game. Can't add much to all the positive reviews. Apparently the bugs have been worked out, not a single problem throughout game play. More than one save slot would have been helpful. The poor translation is good enough to get the info across. It's actually unintentionally humorous at times, sort of like some of the old poorly dubbed oriental MA or SciFi cult classic movies. Finished Gail 1 and starting on Gail 2 now.
Good throw back if you enjoyed Dragon Warrior on the NES. The story is minimal, and there are translation issues with the port. Got stuck finding a few things and after looking in forums there are key pieces of information missing in the English version, so expect to look a few things up to complete. Pacing could be improved as well, lots of grinding required.
Friendly advice: more side quests would help with the "lack of direction" feel I got. Also I feel like the xp balance was a little off by the end of the game, I could get torn to shreds in the final dungeon for average of ~1200-1300 xp or grind right outside for average of ~1000-1200 and barely get touched. Just felt a little pointless. Great overall game tho, so hard to find an rpg this good!
Shares a lot in common with the original Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) for the NES/Famicom. But it is still its own game. If you have fond memories of RPGs on your NES - give this a download, and then go buy the sequels. This game is old school all the way. There is some grinding to do. No shortcuts. You have to earn those levels.
Totaly addicted. Presently stuck becouse I can't find the cell key. Controlls alot like clasic Final Fantasy games. Haven't had probloms going right thru all mobs. FUN!
I love the look and feel of old school RPGs, but this game lacks polish. Controls are way too big, action button does too may things (why make it open the menu when there is a menu button?), and menus are awful. Will likely give the sequel a chance since it looks better prepared and not thrown together.
Needs updating for graphics issues badly. Worked fine until the KitKat update to 4.4.4. Now there's a green block around all the characters and the enemies. Fix that and it'll go back to 5 stars. Awesome old school RPG. Brings back fond memories of the early Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy games.
Not too easy, not too hard, and free.! You.'ll have to check the walkthrough unless you're very smart, due to the iffy translation but really who cares.? Top game
